The Multi-Point Series enables smooth, synchronised control from three or more points—ideal for hallways, staircases and open-plan spaces in larger, multi-storey homes.
A multi-point dimmer switch allows the same lighting circuit to be
switched and dimmed from several wall positions. It is designed for
larger rooms, hallways, staircases and other spaces where brightness
control is required from more than two locations.
Repenic multi-point rotary dimmers provide synchronised control from up
to five compatible positions. Each position can switch the lighting on
or off and adjust its brightness, avoiding the limitations of a
conventional intermediate switching arrangement.
How Multi-Point Dimming Works
Every compatible dimmer in the installation communicates with the same
lighting circuit. When the brightness is adjusted from one position,
the other control positions remain synchronised with the current
lighting level.
Rotary dimming at every position
allows brightness to be adjusted from each compatible wall control.
Push on/off control
allows the connected lighting to be switched from any position.
Up to five control locations
provides flexible operation across larger rooms, corridors and
staircases.
Synchronised operation
keeps every control position working with the same connected lighting
circuit.
Multi-Point and Conventional 2-Way Control
A conventional 2-way dimmer installation normally provides rotary
dimming at one position and on/off switching at the second. A Repenic
multi-point dimmer system provides rotary brightness adjustment at
every compatible control position.
For installations with three or more control positions, the compatible
multi-point dimmers replace the conventional intermediate switching
arrangement. A standard intermediate switch is not required within the
complete multi-point system.
Leading- and Trailing-Edge Dimming
Selectable leading- and trailing-edge modes allow the dimming method to
be matched more closely to the connected dimmable lamps. This supports
a wider range of compatible dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent
lighting.
Trailing-edge mode
is commonly used with compatible dimmable LED lamps and electronic
lighting loads.
Leading-edge mode
is available for compatible lamps and traditional lighting loads that
require this dimming method.
Adjustable minimum brightness
helps optimise the lower end of the dimming range for the connected
lamps.
Boost mode
can assist compatible lamps when additional start-up power is needed
at a low brightness setting.
UK Wiring and Installation
Repenic multi-point dimmer switches are designed for 230V AC 50Hz UK
two-wire lighting circuits and do not require a neutral connection at
the dimmer. They fit a standard UK 25mm back box, subject to the
available wiring space.
No neutral required
makes the system suitable for many existing UK lighting
installations.
Standard UK 25mm back box
provides compatibility with common UK wall-box dimensions.
Minimum connected load
must be at least 15W across the lighting circuit when used in a
multi-point installation.
Compatible dimmable lamps required
because non-dimmable lamps must not be connected to the dimmer.
Choosing the Number of Control Positions
Before ordering, count the number of wall positions from which the same
lighting circuit must be controlled. Every position within the
multi-point arrangement requires a compatible multi-point dimmer
control.
Three positions
are suitable for staircases with an additional landing control or
rooms with three entrances.
Four or five positions
provide additional control across larger rooms, long corridors and
multi-level spaces.
1–4 gang faceplates
allow several separate lighting circuits to be accommodated where the
selected product configuration supports them.
Solid Metal Finishes
Repenic multi-point dimmers are available in coordinated solid metal
finishes designed to match switches, sockets and other interior
hardware.
Brushed brass
provides a warm metallic finish suited to traditional and
contemporary interiors.
Brushed stainless steel
offers a clean, understated appearance for modern spaces.
Matt black
creates a stronger architectural contrast against lighter walls.
Matt white
provides a quieter finish that coordinates with pale walls and
minimalist interiors.
Checking Compatibility Before Ordering
Confirm that the lamps are dimmable, the total connected load is within
the stated rating and the installation uses the correct number of
compatible multi-point controls. Lamp compatibility can vary between
manufacturers, drivers and dimming modes.
Installation note:
Fixed-wiring products should be installed in accordance with the
supplied instructions and relevant UK wiring requirements. Before
ordering, confirm the connected load, lamp compatibility, back-box
depth and number of required control positions.
